If the ground slopes toward the house, nothing planted on it fixes that. Negative grade against a foundation is the most common thing we find on a walk. It is far cheaper to correct than the basement it damages. We look at where water goes before we talk about plants.

Can you fix a wet window well?
Often yes. It is usually grading, a downspout or drainage rather than the foundation. Worth checking before anyone sells you a waterproofing system.
